Susan Cohen, aka "Sue," is retired from a career in nuring. After many years of performing direct patient care and staff instruction in the ICU as well as other hospital departments, she retired from the position of Administrative Director of Quality Assurance.
Susan was an experienced horsewomen competing in equestrian sports including dressage and eventing. She stumbled into performance dog sports by pure chance and bitten by the agility bug, she began competing with her Golden Retriever "Boomer". She has been involved in rescue and local canine groups and started up "BEADS" (Big Easy Agility Dogs). Unfortunately that succumbed to Hurrican Katrina. She has also been involved in Obedience, Rally, Lure Coursing, Tracking, Herding, Nosework and now Barn Hunt. Her Golden "MoonPie" has also appeared in 3 movies. She is a co-founder of NOLA Barn Hunt Friends, LLC, whose first Barn Hunt Trial was held September 20-21, 2014, in Kenner, Louisiana. She states that "Perhaps I am most proud of "Zip" who was our MACH 4 Border Collie. After a paralyzing spinal injury, she went on to thrive and even returned to agility in her wheels". Is an Elementary Physical Education Teacher and also coached girl's soccer at the High School level. She started showing horses at a young age and earn many titles in many different performance events. She has transfered her knowledge in what makes a good performance horse into what makes a good performance dog and has earned many titles in performance and comformation. She has breed Boxers for the comformation ring and has handled many of her own Boxers and client's Boxers to their Championships and Grand Championships. She is affiliated with the Boxer Club of Louisiana, Houston Boxer Club, American Boxer Club and Deep South All Breed Obedience Club and is now the co-founder of NOLA Barn Hunt Friends, LLC. Over the years, she has earned titles recognized by AKC in Comformation, Companion Dog, Canine Good Citizen, Rally, Jumpers, Agility and although not recognized by AKC her dogs have degrees in Therapy Dog International and visit hopsitals, nursing homes, etc. All of her dogs have been owner handled by Susan. Her proudest moments were the ones she spent with her dog Cruiser as they earned agility titles through MACH 6. Cruiser was the first Boxer to earn both an AKC Championship and a MACH title.
